How to create a vignette effect in After Effects

Create a vignette to darken the edges of your frame — it draws focus to the center and adds a cinematic, polished look.

Steps to create a vignette effect

Add CC Vignette effect to your layer or adjustment layer. Go to Effect → Stylize → CC Vignette. The effect applies instantly with default settings.

Adjust the Amount slider to control how dark the vignette gets. Higher values create a darker edge; lower values are more subtle. Find the sweet spot where the vignette enhances your shot without looking too heavy.

Adjust the Angle of View to control how far the darkening extends from the edges. A wider angle keeps more of the center bright; a narrower angle brings the vignette closer to the center. Tweak it until the focus feels natural.
