Sometimes high-quality previews slow you down while you’re working. Dropping the quality temporarily helps your workflow stay smooth.
Steps to change display quality for faster previews
Under your comp viewer, find the Resolution dropdown. By default, it’s Full. Change it to Half or Quarter and you’ll get faster playback — way better for scrubbing through timelines quickly.

You can also set Adaptive Resolution so After Effects adjusts automatically based on what you’re doing.

One more thing
Use Full resolution for final checks before export, but stick to Half while you’re animating and building out your timeline. It keeps things responsive.
